The Movement of Labor

In the Heart of the Black Belt, 1947 — Jacob Lawrence

The Movement of Labor is a simultaneous analysis of three topics:

  1. Workers’ movements to change their conditions;

  2. Mass migrations of workers;

  3. Struggles for civil rights and democracy.

I hope weaving these histories together can illuminate some of the broader patterns that shape our present conditions, and thereby fuel our struggles to win a better world.
